We have some wonderful people fundraising for us at Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis and we have just been overwhelmed by recent donations from June Bellingham, who lost her beloved husband, Cliff in January.
June, who was with her partner for 52 years, sent us a £600 donation following his funeral. But she then decided to go one better and organised a supper party at a friend’s home for 50 people on May 16th.
The event raised an amazing £942.50.
June got her friend, Felix Woodhead, a lung specialist and consulatant at the University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust, to talk about pulmonary fibrosis and she handed out our leaflets giving people more information and spreading the word further afield.
Says June: “ We had the most wonderful evening, the night was balmy so the garden was a great attraction, but biggest attraction of all was Felix Woodhead who talked about this dreadful disease and stressed the urgent need for research. He told us that he held two Clinics each week specifically for Pulmonary Fibrosis sufferers and each week those Clinics were full. How frightening is that? The Supper (all food was donated) was absolutely delicious – we had Game Casserole, Mediterranean Roast Vegetable lasagne, Moroccan Chicken and Beef Casserole with various salads , garlic bread, new potatoes, couscous. I`m not going to go on about the desserts, too many but equally appreciated by all, again and again!!”
Our thanks to June and to all those who fundraised and raised awareness.
