University Hospital of North Midlands Lung Fibrosis Support Group

The Interstitial lung disease support group in North Staffordshire has been established since March 2011 and was developed in joint collaboration between the ILD clinic at the University Hospital of North Midlands and the Douglas Macmillan Hospice community team.

The aim of the group is to provide information and practical support for patients and their carers. The programme includes different speakers every month proving practical support from symptom management, support services, finances to specific talks on nutrition, pulmonary rehabilitation and oxygen. We also provide information on the latest treatments, research and clinical trials in IPF.

The group is run by the ILD clinical nurse specialist (Jacqueline Piggott), with support and attendance of the community palliative care nurse who also has a special interest in ILD (Sharon Warburton).

A programme list of upcoming events, talks and speakers is sent to the patients and their relatives every 6 months.
