The Midlands Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group

The group is very well established and well attended (30-40 people in each session). Geraldine Burge leads most of the sessions and Professor Burge (semi-retired consultant)often attends.

Topics are chosen by the group and have included oxygen therapy including a talk by the fire brigade on oxygen management in the home, breathing exercise guidance from a local respiratory nurse, massage and relaxation, travel insurance challenges, healthy cooking with herbs and spices and last month a patient gave a Tai Chi demonstration to help maintain fitness levels.

Refreshments are served and paid for each month by a collection from the group.

Group members are keen to fundraise at local county fairs and were involved with local events at last year’s IPF Week.
