Hywel Dda Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group

Hywel Dda held their first pulmonary fibrosis support group on 18th April at Prince Phillip Hospital, Llanelli. It welcomed patients, family, friends and relatives affected by pulmonary fibrosis. There was an informative talk given by Dr Mark Andrews (Consultant Respiratory Physician) on “Pulmonary Fibrosis- causes, treatments and care”. Lorna McLauchlan from Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis attended and gave a short talk about the charity and how it is working to support patients and David Rees (organiser for the Swansea group) discussed his experiences of running a support group.

Other members of the ILD team were also present and gave an outline of their roles and services available to patients in West Wales:

2019  plans to continue with alternate monthly meeting alternating between Llanelli and Carmarthen and to develop into Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion
