The Exeter Pulmonary Fibrosis Group

Please note: We have created a virtual WhatsApp group open to anyone in the South West.

You will need to have the WhatsApp application installed on a smartphone. Please send a text to Howard Almond on 07970793560 and he will add you to the group.
The group is open to PF and IPF patients and their families, or carers.

The group first met in 2012 at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and we welcome those with Pulmonary Fibrosis, their relatives, friends and carers.

We currently meet three times a year in February, June and October and as we are in such a large rural area, we encourage people to attend local groups such as Breathe Easy between our meetings. We enjoy the support of our local Breathe Easy group representative.

Group meetings have had the benefit of talks from, and discussions with Dr Michael Gibbons (Respiratory Consultant); the Hospiscare team (our local hospice talking about their support services including their day centre) and a practical session from our Respiratory Physiotherapist on optimal management of the symptoms of breathlessness.

Each meeting includes plenty of time for a drink and chat, with updates on Pulmonary Fibrosis developments and other services and activities that individuals may be interested in.
