Pulmonary fibrosis refers to a specific group of lung diseases thought to be affecting around 70,000 people in the UK. The nature of these diseases all cause hardening and scarring of the lungs, preventing the transfer of oxygen into the bloodstream. It has a devastating impact on quality and quantity of life and on breathing.
Pulmonary fibrosis affects every area of family life. Yet there is very little dedicated support available to patients and families affected.
Since APF was set up as a charity in 2013 we have established ourselves as a respected and influential charity.
Regional Support Coordinator

Salary: £25,000-£32,000 depending on experience, pro-rated
Are you looking for a new challenge? Are you passionate about enabling patients and carers to drive change? We are looking for two exceptional candidates to be our first Regional Support Coordinators, to manage and grow our network of support groups for people living with pulmonary fibrosis.
There is no known cure for pulmonary fibrosis, and little support for families. We are passionate about changing that, by funding research to find a cure, campaigning for access to early diagnosis, and that everyone who needs it has a support group nearby, so that no-one is left at home alone, feeling isolated or fearful. We’ve made a fantastic start and now have 75 support groups, reaching 3,000 people – but there are as many as 30,000 people who need one!
You might be a health professional, have personal experience of pulmonary fibrosis in the family, or have worked with support groups in a charity or health context.
Regional scope: We are looking to appoint two Coordinators, one for the north and one for the south of England. You will need to be well placed to travel throughout your region:
North: geographical area north of Peterborough and including Birmingham, with a special focus on the large network of groups in the North-West and West Midlands (such as Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield) and a growing network in the North-East (such as Newcastle, Middlesbrough).
South: geographical area to the south of Peterborough, with a special focus on London and the South-East (including London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex) and a growing network in the South West and on the South coast.

Community and Corporate Fundraiser
The Community and Corporate Fundraiser is a new and pivotal appointment that will assume responsibility for the majority of our current income and develop a new income stream from companies.
You’ll grow our fundraising capacity setting up a new CRM, and developing tools, materials and setting up events that will engage a broad range of stakeholders. You will also ensure we are compliant with regards to fundraising standards and work in line with APF’s values.
APF has ambitious plans to grow our impact and develop our support for patients and families affected by pulmonary fibrosis. We will open our first office in Peterborough from October 2019 and move from a freelance model to include permanent staff.
