Mike Bray is the Chairman of Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Mike started his career as a Customs officer serving at ports and airports throughout the UK from Dover to the Shetland Isles. He transferred into Value Added Tax when it was introduced and in 1988 he left the Civil Service to join the accountancy firm Baker Tilly, as their regional VAT specialist for East Anglia.
Mike was a trustee and treasurer of the Friends of his local hospital for over twenty years and has served as chairman of his local Probus group. Just before retiring from work in May 2005, he was diagnosed with IPF. In August 2010 he was very fortunate to receive a life-saving transplant at Papworth Hospital. In December 2010, the Papworth Hospital Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group was formed and Mike became chairman. Mike feels privileged to be part of Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis.
