Applications open for The APF Mike Bray Research Fellowship application
In 2017 we announced The APF Mike Bray Research Fellowship in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in memory of our founder and former chairman, who passed away last year. The £300,000 grant will fund a major IPF research project.
Today we are pleased to invite preliminary applications for the APF Mike Bray Research Fellowship. This is a personal award for 3 years for up to £300,000. It is available to medically qualified applicants, post-doctoral scientists or allied health professionals for clinical, and/or laboratory based research. The fellowship is open to UK based researchers only.
Chair of APF Steve Jones says:
We are delighted today to launch the APF Mike Bray Research Fellowship on Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, in memory of our inspirational founding trustee and former Chairman, Mike Bray. Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis is a fatal lung disease with no known cause, no cure and limited treatments. The £300,000, three-year fellowship will finance vital research into the causes and treatments of this little-known disease which kills 6,000 people each year in the UK. Our vision is a world in which everybody living with pulmonary fibrosis has a better future and this research will help us to achieve this goal. The funding has been raised through the commitment and generosity of individual fundraisers and those who have made donations in memory of a loved one, often at a very difficult time in their own lives.
