Charity trustee Elizabeth Bray attends inspiring IPF workshop in Brussels
Earlier this month, trustee and charity secretary Elizabeth Bray, attended an inspiring international workshop for IPF patients and family members in Brussels.
It included patients or relatives from 13 countries, mostly from Europe but also Argentina, Israel, US and Canada.
The theme of the workshop was raising awareness and communications. It provided the opportunity to discuss the issues of IPF across all those countries. Many of the issues are similar across the globe – the importance of early diagnosis, lack of knowledge of the disease among GPs and other non-specialist healthcare professionals and management of the disease.
The experts from the team which organised and led the event gave some very useful guidance on how to get our message across to politicians and other influencers, on behalf of patients.
All those present felt that we could benefit from working together, particularly at European level.
The workshop was supported by Boehringer Ingelheim.
